Thanks for taking an interest in my Yosemite Refuge.
As Mechanical Engineer in the Texas oil industry, I moved to Silicon Valley in the 80s to ride the computer wave. It was then that I first experienced Yosemite National Park. With frequent visits over the next 2 decades competing with my other love, skydiving, I finally sold my parachute, committed to Yosemite and started living at Yosemite Refuge in the early 2000s. While doing countless hikes all over the park, I also started perfecting my backpacking gear, leading to my co-founding a backpacking gear company from this house called Trail Designs. I hope you find as much happiness here as I have. Between myself and my neighbors Jeff and Melissa who I've asked to help with your stay, we'll work to ensure you have everything you need.
It is quite simply the most breathtaking place on earth. Covering an area the size of Rhode Island, you will find some of the largest waterfalls in North America, the most spectacular granite monoliths in the world, Giant Sequoias which can't be found anywhere else on earth, and the list just goes on and on. With over 750 miles of trails, the opportunity to see these sites in addition to extensive wildlife (bear, deer, marmots, coyote, etc) is unparalleled. The question isn't why live in Yosemite, it's why wouldn't you live here!
Given the huge size of Yosemite, and the countless things to see and do, you want to be in the middle of it all when you wake up in the morning. Starting your day off fighting through traffic, sitting in line at the entrance station, and driving half the day from a gateway city just to get started wastes precious time and energy. Yosemite Refuge is in Yosemite West.....right in the middle of the most popular sites.....whether it's the waterfalls and huge granite of Yosemite Valley to the north, the Giant Sequoias of Mariposa Grove to the south, or the breathtaking views from Glacier Point to the east, you're perfectly positioned to explore them all. Add to it the unparalleled seclusion and privacy found at Yosemite Refuge allows you to truly get away from it all and recharge. The 2 car garage has easy access from the street, leading to 55 steps meandering down the hillside to Yosemite Refuge's private setting, providing comfortable seclusion from the rest of the community. Also, located at 6000' elevation, it's cooler than the low lying towns and valley.
